THE Book That Will Surely Help You develop the Personal Relationship

With Our Lord’s Sacred Heart That He Desires!

A year ago a spiritual mentor of mine, Peggy Meissner, loaned me a copy of a book,“He and I”, by Gabriel Bossis, that she thought would help me to develop the kind of spiritual relationship with His Heart that I had desired, but had not seemed to attain, with much trying in the past 15 years, even though she, herself, had provided ample evidence of her achievement of total unity with His Heart over the years I have known her. It has turned out to be the greatest gift that I have ever received in my spiritual quest to become closer to His Heart.

I had always seemed unable to get beyond seeing Him as an historical figure of 2,000 years ago. How wrong I was, in terms of interpreting the relationship HE desires. One of the quotes in the book, among a myriad of others, that was so pertinent to changing this attitude, was when He said to the author, “To me, time is all present.” I was stunned; I had never thought of it this way! It meant that everything He lived for and taught and suffered and died for was, to Him, as though it was YESTERDAY, NOT 2,000 YEARS AGO. In itself, this one statement changed my attitude about how I was to love Him.

His Heart’s insatiable desire for the love of each and every one of His children, and His unqualified, constant and ineffable overflow of His love and graces expressed throughout the book in the exchanges of His words, and hers, made me realize the immense desire and need for human love of the God-Man, as Man, are exactly like ours, only infinitely greater. When we realize this, that He needs our love, to assuage and make reparation for the enormity of His gift of salvation, and like every human, has the need for the love of another, we can only desire to fulfill His wishes with our whole being.

He desires a personal, constant intimacy so that we think of Him and love Him in all our thoughts and daily activities.

The book is so filled with thoughtful insights, to improve our relationship as He desires it, one can read individual diary–like exchanges, put the book down, and meditate on how we might emulate His suggestions in our daily lives. One can, therefore, make reference to it over and over, and thus, improve our relation ship with the One who loves us beyond all understanding.
